having to do with the argument that is “if women are wearing ‘skimpy’ clothing, they are asking to be raped.”
for those of you that think this way, I want you to imagine something for me.
imagine that it’s a hot summer day.
many people are outside tending to their lawns.
you see a man outside mowing the grass.
he’s sweating profusely.
he takes his shirt off.
a woman sees this now half-naked man.
she tries to rape him.
now tell me why this scenario is wrong.
if your answer is “men cannot be raped”: wrong
if your answer is “the man is wrong for taking his shirt off”: wrong
if your answer is “because rape is wrong”: correct
clothes do not dictate whether rape is warranted nor does gender. self control is the factor here. if you do not have the self control to stop yourself from raping others, you do not deserve to be out in public.
stop victim blaming.
